Zoa Berna Brown Jefferson departed this life to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 5, 2020. Born June 12th, 1959 to her loving Parents, Florenza and Fitzugh Brown. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Cynthia Hill. She was the first sister to brothers Carlos and Beryl, and was soon followed by two more sisters, Cynthia and Lisa. Zoa had an amazing bond with her siblings, one that grew stronger through losing their mother as young adults.
Zoa accepted Christ at an early age, and never strayed far from her Faith. She was educated in the Richmond Public Schools System, where she graduated Class of ’77 as a proud Bulldog of George Wythe High School. She entered into a career as a Healthcare professional, being a Private Duty Nurse until 2017, when she decided to retire and focus on herself and living life to the fullest.
Zoa enjoyed stepping out, looking her best. Everyone called her “Auntie”, and those who knew her appreciated her no nonsense, tell it like it is attitude. Her favorite things to do were spending time with family and friends and watching Tyler Perry movies.
Zoa leaves to carry on her legacy her only child, Misa Brown, Two brothers, Carlos (Kim) and Beryl Brown, one sister, Lisa Brown, Two aunts, Zelda Clark and Claire Patron, one uncle Al Turner, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends, among those, a devoted niece Florenza Brown and devoted friends Duke “DuBaby” Talley, Robin Williams, Angela “Angie”Jones and Ed Slay.
