Samuel Arthur Thompson Jr, age 61, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024. He was born November 5, 1962, in Charlottesville Va to Bernice Winn Bourne Thompson and the late Samuel Arthur Thompson Sr. He was a graduate of Fluvanna County High School, class of 1981. He married Blanche Marlene Jackson on August 22, 1982, and together they welcomed a son on May 28, 1988, and a daughter on July 24, 1989. He was a hard worker, and he worked several jobs, most notably he was a laminator operator at Armstrong furniture/Thomasville furniture/Creative interiors from 1988 until the furniture plant closed its doors.
Arthur was a friend to all, and he wanted nothing more than to help anyone he could. He would give the shirt off his back and has actually done so. He loved to make people laugh and he will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him. He enjoyed gardening and fishing, especially with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed singing, drawing, making things, working with his backhoe and talking to his friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Samuel Arthur Thompson Sr. and a brother William Franklin “Sparkplug” Bourne.
He is survived by his mother, Bernice Winn Thompson, his loving wife of 41 years, Blanche Marlene Thompson, his son Samuel Arthur Thompson III, his daughter Blanche Winn and Robert Michaux Tucker, his Granddaughters Angel Baber and Marley Tucker, his grandson Jaxon Tucker, his brother Robert and Connie Thompson, his very good personal friends Bobby Brooks, Timmy Beach, Wayne Custer, Billy Eubanks and Ronnie Payne and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
