Robert Creasy Obituary

Robert Mansfield Creasy, affectionately known as “Ben or Ned,” transitioned from this life on Friday, April 2, 2021.  He was born in Fluvanna County, Virginia, to the late Eugene Marshall Creasy and Viola (Randolph) Creasy.

Ben attended Fluvanna County public schools prior to continuing his education at Virginia State University.  While at the university, Ben participated in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corp (ROTC), eventually enlisting in the United States Army in January, 1980.  As an Infantryman with the 1 st Battalion, 8 th Infantry (Company C), Ben earned a Sharpshooter Badge for his skill with the M-16 rifle and the hand grenade.

After a year-long tour in the Republic of Korea, Ben arrived in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he embarked on a new assignment as soldier and husband.  He married Doris (Anderson) Creasy in October 1981 and became “Papa” to five bonus daughters.

At a very early age, Ben accepted the Lord as his personal savior and joined New Fork Baptist Church (Palmyra, Virginia).

Ben had many hobbies and could often be found working on vehicles, repairing electronics, or spending time raising his bonus grandson, Khiry Q. Turner.  He also took great pride in his physical health and would be seen riding his bicycle or running all around Charlottesville.  Ben had a generous heart and enjoyed assisting those less fortunate.

Family was of highest priority to Ben, which he continuously displayed by spending numerous hours with his bonus daughters and siblings. He had a golden spirit and never met a stranger.

Ben will be greatly missed by all who knew or encountered him.

In addition to his parents, Ben is preceded in death by five brothers: Carl, Charles, Tommie, Windsor, and James; and two sisters: an infant and Minnie Ebo.

Many cherished memories will live on by those survived by him:  his wife of 40 years, Doris Lee Creasy; his three brothers: Joseph Creasy (Regina) of Palmyra, Virginia, David Creasy (Hazel) of Palmyra, Virginia, and William Creasy of Petersburg, Virginia; five sisters: Dolores Thomas of Palmyra, Virginia, Doris Brown (James) of Bowie, Maryland, Sharon Johnson of Scottsville, Virginia, Karen Creasy of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and Janice Bradley of Oxford, North Carolina; five bonus daughters: Tammy Jackson of Baltimore, Maryland, Cynthia Brooks-Woods (Charles) of Richmond, Virginia, Doris Chatmon (Adam) of Scottsville, Virginia, Lisa Turner (Issumi) of Baltimore, Maryland, Sabrina Turner (Gary Stewart) of Brandywine, Maryland; 13 bonus grandchildren; 16 bonus great grandchildren; and a whole host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
