Rita Mae Anderson was born May 27, 1953, to Thomas Kingston and Mary Frances Young. She was the oldest of eleven children, so she held the crown of responsibility. After literally traveling down the wrong road, she came face to face with her true calling, being a messenger of the greatness of Jesus Christ our savior. Her love for the Lord overshadowed her beauty and her kind heart. She had a passion to give, she had a passion to serve and she did both with glory to God.
Rita has left to marvel at the life she lived a spouse of 48 years, Paul Anderson. Six children, Robert Young of Buckingham, Rita Young of Charlottesville, Celita Wells and Paula Hamlett of Martinsville, Darrick Anderson of Arvonia, and Samantha Jackson of Palmyra.Two adopted children, Lisa Anderson of Palmyra and Tony Anderson of Richmond.
Her siblings, Helen Hill of Palmyra, Francis Anderson of Buckingham, Thomas Kingston of Waynesboro, Bernice McLaughlin of Fork Union, Roxie Stanton of Dillwyn, David Ross of Cloverdale, Hazel Adams and Liza Anderson of Charlottesville. Fourteen grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother Mary Frances, her father Thomas, her brothers Floyd Kingston and Carlton Washington, her maternal grandmother Eliza Young, and maternal grandfather Shedred Young.
