Mary M Davis

Mary Davis, "Aunt Mary", as she was know to most, gained her wings and left this earthly realm to rejoin her heavenly family on Thursday, October 15,2020.  She was born April 28, 1935 to the late Grant and Martha Brackett Mayo.  She was a lifetime resident of Cumberland County, VA where she was educated.  She became a member of Little Fork Baptist Church at an early age.  Mary worked as domestic worker for over 30 years until her retirement. Mary, a dedicated mother first and foremost, treasured her family, She was the proud mother of three children and the matriarch to four generations.  She was always the first to offer help, and had a vivacious personality, made friends everywhere she went, and enjoyed playing bingo and watching old television shows.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Davis; two sons, Tyrone and Rodney Bland; her parents, Grant and Martha Mayo; two sisters, Claire Surles and Pearline Johnson, and one brother, Acie Mayo.

She leaves a very caring and loving family to cherish her fond memories, one daughter, Charlene Davis ( John); one brother, deacon Grant  Mayo(Ernestine); a sister, Cora Crump; a daughter- in law, Barbara Bland; sis grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, a devoted grandaughter, Charniece Davis, and a host of nieces and nephews.

All whom loved her dearly will never forget her tenacity, charm, grace, and undying love.  She will be sorely missed and forever in our hearts.
