Prince Malachi McLean, 18, of Cartersville, VA passed away peacefully on Nov. 30, 2020.
He was born to Virginia and Dueane Mclean on February 7, 2002 in Richmond, VA. Malachi graduated from Cumberland High School in May of 2020 and was attending Chowan University majoring in Kinesiology.
Malachi is the loving and devoted brother to three sisters: Jasmine Cooper, Chante Cooper and Deandra Mclean and one brother Jevon Mclean. One uncle Ambus Bailey III (Shirlene), two aunts Deoniesa Bailey and Kimberly Mclean (Anton). Two grandfathers, Ambus Bailey (the late Rochelle) and Audley McLean (Marcia). Numerous cousins accompanied by a host of other relatives and friends. All of these he loved and touched deeply.
Malachi was a devoted Man of God serving faithfully at Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church since birth. He functioned as an Usher, Armorbearer and walking Trustee while actively assisting with the Mighty Men of God Ministries and the weekly food bank pick up and distribution. Malachi was a gentle giant, he loved his family dearly and spent his spare time binge watching movies with his mom, laughing and enjoying life. Malachi enjoyed playing football, basketball and visiting friends from high school. Malachi had an infectious smile and quiet personality that allowed him to shine even when he tried to go about unnoticed. He made friends everywhere he went, and everyone loved him.
His was a leader and a role model, he would want us to keep John 16:22 in our hearts….Now you are having pain but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. Malachi modeled a life of empowerment and he taught others to do the same. Malachi was an exceptional young man and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
