James Archer Patterson, 67, was born December 10, 1955 to the late Lilly Belle Patterson and Henry Stovall. He was the youngest of 14 children. He departed his life on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Dundee Manor, Bennettsville, South Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Geraldine, Virginia, Mary, and Queen and four brothers, Joseph, Robert, Alexander, and Walter.
“Junie Boy”, as he was affectionately known to many, enjoyed working on automobiles, singing, dancing, playing the harmonica and sitting under the shade tree in his yard enjoying friends and family. James mainly enjoyed riding bikes and picking up cans with his best friend, Mr. William Palmer.
James lived in Bremo Bluff, Virginia, throughout his life until he became ill and moved to Cheraw, SC with his son Marvin. While living in Cheraw, South Carolina, “Pops” became the grandfather to the neighborhood. He enjoyed sitting on the front porch talking to neighbors who stopped by to visit. He was loved by all.
James is survived by three sons, Marvin (Kartricia) Jones of Cheraw, South Carolina, Tony (Fatima) Jones of West Bottom, Virginia, Cornell Patterson of Stanardsville, Virginia; seven daughters, Carolyn (Stick) Jones of Charlottesville, Virginia, Cassandra (Clevland) Chambers of Richmond, Virginia, Tomeka Patterson of Stanardsville, Virginia, Gerlene Scott of Goochland, Virginia, Danielle Scott of Fork Union, Virginia, Sharon Johnson of West Bottom, Virginia, and Stephanie Johnson of West Bottom, Virginia; Five sisters, Mary Ross of Palmyra, Virginia, Rosa Payne of Columbia, Virginia, Barbara Watkins of Dillwyn, Virginia, and Linda Hill (Lewis) of Bremo Bluff, Virginia, Louise Banks of Arvonia Virginia; one brother, Thomas Patterson of Bremo Bluff, Virginia and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and numerous friends.
