Golar A Anderson

On Friday, June 24, 2022, Gollar Alphonso Anderson was called from labor to reward at Sentara
Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA.
His parents were the late Henry P. Anderson and Beulah Lee Anderson. He is preceded in death
by Edmonia L. Anderson, Doris I. Anderson. Surviving are his brothers Henry B. Anderson; Kenny
B. Anderson; and Glenn O. Anderson (Annie).
He was a devoted husband to his wife of 57 years, Velma L. Parrish Anderson; a loving father to
children Gollar, Jr. (Ursula), Milton (Tashema), Tonya ( Steven), Sterling (Kayla), and Bruce
(Nikki).
He was employed for many years at G.W. Baskfield Lumber Co., Inc., and 37 years at the Fork
Union Military Academy.
He accepted Christ at the Columbia Baptist Church on Friday, August 11, 1961, under the
pastorate the Rev. Samuel Lee.
He is survived by his brothers-in-law Allen Parrish (Martha Lou Anderson) (dec) and John
Parrish. His sisters-in-law Ellen Parrish Lane (Clinton Lane) (Dec); Anna Gatlin; Ruby Parrish;
Gloria Woodson (Huey Woodson) (dec); Joyce Holt (Edward Holt); Alice Parrish Anderson
(deceased); Fred Lee Anderson (dec.).
Also surviving are his grandchildren: Shanice, Steven, Jr., Tanae, Ammilleon, Alijah, Exzaviar,
Caden, Aleah, Autumn, Calvin, Summer, Harmony, Alexus, Henry, Jamie, Briana, Shante’, Kiana.
And great grand Carmaine, Brielle, and Nia.
He is also survived by his best friend Jake Anderson.
He was a man of many talents. He enjoyed building things for and with his grandchildren and
loved caring for animals. He was a loving neighbor; supportive friend to all and would truly give
anything he had to help someone else. He will be greatly missed by his family and his community.
