Gladys Jannie Smith (Jenny)
Passed in peace Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the age of 76.
Gladys was born May 23, 1945 to the late Irene Johnson and Samuel
Anderson in Arvonia, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband
George L. Smith and her daughters Pamela and Tammy Smith. Also
preceded in death by 3 sisters and eight brothers.
Gladys received her education in the Buckingham County school system.
She went on to marry and have a family. While always taking care of her
family she worked in the food industry. Gladys loved her job with a
passion. She worked all the way up to the age of 74. She was a devoted
wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She cherished each one
of those roles. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She loved
music to the core of her being. The Blues and Oldie but Goodies was
always playing. Reading and staying up on current events was also
something she liked to do. For exercise she loved to walk. She was known
for her fashion and traveling on the Greyhound bus. She was also known
for giving special nicknames to her family members. Her favorite foods
were chicken, fish, potato wedges, and any kind of greens. Her favorite
colors were red and gold.
She leaves to cherish fond memories of her, devoted daughter and son
in law Wanda and Richard Savage. Also daughter Amy Smith. Devoted
granddaughter and grandson Ashley ‘Shaniqua’ Boone and Davon ‘DaBoo’
Smith. Her other beloved grandchildren Ricky ‘Man’ Savage, Chanell
Savage, DeAaron Reeves, Rashard Reeves, and Jademika Reeves. Two
beautiful great-granddaughters Breonna McHan and Jazleyn William-Smith.
Four sisters: Pearl Woodson (Alphonso), Hilda Jones, Edna Chambers
(Bruce), Darlene Bowles (William), one brother Marvin Johnson and sister
in laws and brother in laws. She also leaves to cherish a host of nieces and
nephews along with friends and coworkers.
