Garrison Leroy Wade Jr.

Deacon Garrison Leroy Wade Jr 83, transitioned to His Heavenly Home on Sunday, July 30, 2023.

Garrison was born on July 6, 1940 in Cumberland, Virginia to the Late Garrison Wade Sr. and Irene Wade. He was preceded in death by his Parents, siblings Rebecca, Alice, Bennie, John Edward and Robert Wade, niece Rose Parrish and Sister in Laws Mary and Naomi Wade.

Garrison joined Pleasant View Baptist Church at an early age where He was a faithful and dedicated member. He truly was a Man of God. He enjoyed working in the church and community. He served as Chairman of The Deacon Board, Superintendent of Sunday School, Overseer of the Church, Former Groundskeeper, Member of Mighty Men of God and a Member of the James River District Baptist Association.

Garrison attended Luther P Jackson High School in Cumberland Virginia, where He graduated in 1957. After High School He served 3 years in the United States Army. After which He was employed with Morton Frozen Food for several years before being employed with the Virginia Department of Corrections for 25 years before retiring as a Captain.

“Lap” as known by many enjoyed cutting wood, working in the garden, cutting grass, working crosswords puzzles, watching westerns, watching the news and reading his bible. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by his community.

Garrison is survived by his Devoted friend of 32 years, Linda Mayo, six children, Russel (Vera), Sandy (Jerome), Phillip, Carl (Crystal), Juanita, Bobby (Mary)Wade. Twelve grandchildren, Eleven great grandchildren, One sister Janie Fannings and One sister-in-law Minnie, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. One dedicated niece, Angela Jefferson
