Eleanor (Gaines) Jackson

Eleanor Gaines Jackson departed this life on January 23, 2023, at Sentara
Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia to a better life in
heaven.
Eleanor Gaines Jackson, affectionately known as “Narnie”, “NaNa” and
“Norie” was born on September 10, 1937, in Fluvanna County, Virginia.
She was the daughter of the late William M. and Mary Armstrong Gaines.
She loved going to church and serving the Lord. That was her priority.
Cooking was her expertise – Fried Chicken and Macaroni Salad! She also
loved shopping for every occasion, purchasing everything to match from
head to toe. She was employed by Comdial in Charlottesville, Virginia for
numerous years.
Eleanor was preceded in death by William B. Gaines Sr. (Brother) and
Herman S. Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted daughter, Delores (Lolo) and
son-in-law, Gary Bruce whom she dearly loved. Three sisters, Carrie
Edwards (late John) of New York, Ernestine Thomas (late Willis), Barbara
Bruce (Vanzell) one brother, Joseph Gaines (Barbara) all of Palmyra,
Virginia. A loving sister-in-law, Dorothy Gaines (Brother), a sister-in-law
Evelyn Payne of Dillwyn, Virginia and a step granddaughter and favorite
hair stylist, Felicia Bruce Jones (Peaches) of Palmyra, Virginia, her two sons
and three grandchildren.
She had a soft loving spot in her heart for William Armstrong Sr. (Man),
William B. Gaines Jr. (WG), Blake Harrison (Blakie Blake), Damon Sims Jr.
(DJ) and Carlton Morton (CJ) and the late Jerome Booker (Romie).
The nieces that melted her heart are Angela Shepherd, Lisa Age, Pamela
Sims, Tamara Sims, Latoya Bruce, Olivia Sims, Janice Bonner and Diane
Payne. Minister Teresa Baskfield, Rosetta Washington, Wanda Armstrong,
Lena Jackson, Shirley Morris and Lillian Taylor were very special to her
along with her other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
