Annie M Thomas

Annie Morton Thomas, age 89 was born November 26, 1933 to the late David and Eliza Morton of Palmyra, Virginia. 

On March 9, 2023, Annie M. Thomas, surrounded by family, gained her wings to be with her heavenly Father and loved ones. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Waverly Thomas Sr., her children, Waverly Thomas Jr.,Marie Williams, Shirley Jackson, Marvin Morton, and Tara Thomas, her siblings, Joseph Morton, George Morton and Joyce Kelly. 

Annie joined the church at a very early age, she remained active in the church until her health declined. She was First Lady at numerous churches beside her beloved husband Wavery Sr. Interesting things about her: she worked at GE until she retired. She received her GED at the ripe age of 57. She fostered a total of Forty-five children and adopted four of them.  She babysat every child in the neighborhood, including most of her grandchildren. Her love for the elderly and children was endless. She could not drive by a nursing home without stopping to carry treats (gum, grapes, and Puffin Corn) to each resident. She was known to carry a big walking stick and would use it. In her spare time she loved to bake and garden but her favorite was riding the road.

Annie leaves to cherish her memories  Her children John (Fran) Thomas, Phyllis (Russell) Anderson, Rose (William) Leabough ,Linda Carter,  Darryl Thomas, Regina Thomas,  Robert Thomas , Demarco Thomas, a devoted son Ronald Thomas, a bonus daughter Thelma (Sister) Scott. Grandmother of thirty-two grandchildren, fifty-one great-grandchildren,and twenty-seven, great-great-grandchildren. One sister Mary E. Smith; three brothers David Morton, Thomas Morton, and Charles Morton.  And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
